Grammy Loves NYC!
Grandma Nguyen made her first flight in 35 years, and first visit to the East Coast -- something she's been fond of stopping passerby to tell. Like a neighbor in the Queens apartment, a tamale seller down the street, and folks at Ruby's daycare.
After some time on the #7 subway -- 'oh wow' she said seeing one pass on the elevated line over Roosevelt Avenue -- we opted for culture today, with cousin Liz in from Rhode Island: at the Met.
And a new t-shirt.

Queens Girl!
We're behind on this, but a lot's been going on. First of all, Ruby's a full-on Queens girl. We settled into our new Jackson Heights apartment a couple weeks ago. Went to the playground, a couple local diners, saw some salsa-rap at the nearby park, dealt with the heat.
All good. In the end, nothing beats yogurt though.

Greenpoint Days
We're in our second temporary housing. After a super six weeks with pals Amy, Adam, Owen, Oliver & Bea in Park Slope, we're living -- above an Irish bar, across from American Park, backed with a giant water tower with a freshly painted Polish flag -- in Greenpoint. Just a short drive from Robert's new office in Long Island City, Queens. We took the G to E train to take Ruby to her new daycare in Jackson Heights, Queens -- exactly once. Now drive. The apartment in J-Hi is finally ours -- months in the making -- and renovations underway. Here are some moments of Ruby's May and early June.
Someone got to meet Uncle Matt & Aunt Nina, who are expecting in October, at trendy brunch.
Someone didn't like her first swimming lesson much:
Someone sort of liked wearing a bike helmet and sitting in a bike seat. Just not necessarily at the same time:
Someone is really into parks:

Saturday sights
February! We rode the subway to the Meatpacking District to walk along the High Line, a converted elevated train track, now a public park with unique views of downtown Manhattan. Then had some brunch in the Chelsea Market. Then went to the Prospect Park Zoo in Brooklyn after a nap. Ruby liked the farm animals, the little monkeys and the seal feeding.

Someone is going to be a Queens Girl
A couple weeks ago we had our bid on a two-bedroom apartment in Jackson Heights approved -- it needs work, but it is promising. Two bedrooms, a huge living room/dining room, a working fireplace, an elevator opening to door, a sun room with second bathroom, and views of a private garden.
Ruby is going to be a Queens girl. She kinda always was.
